About
If you’re drawn to the crossroads of fantasy, psychology, and myth, step into my world—where knowledge and legend intertwine, and reality is never quite what it seems. I blend ideas from the holographic universe, neuropsychology, mythology, martial arts, and Eastern philosophy with a lifelong passion for storytelling to create intricate magic systems and immersive worlds. My debut series, The Folded Realm, begins with The Broken Guardian of T'Phareth, an epic journey through a richly layered fantasy realm where knowledge and legend intertwine.

When I’m not writing, you’ll find me playing games with my son, teaching students how to measure unseen phenomena like intelligence and emotions, or tackling century bike races to stay sharp in mind and body.
My Story
I've always believed that magic exists—not through spells and incantations, but in the unseen forces that shape our world. Science seeks to measure them, psychology strives to understand them, and fantasy brings them to life. My writing blends all three, exploring the hidden connections between mind, matter, and myth. Whether it’s the invisible energy that fuels a spell or the deep instincts that drive a hero’s journey, I love unraveling the magic behind the story.

Storytelling, science, and imagination have been intertwined throughout my life. Research uncovers patterns in data, while writing reveals the hidden forces that shape worlds both real and imagined. Logic meets mystery, blending knowledge with the unknown, psychology with magic, and structure with creativity. Whether analyzing data, building new worlds, or exploring the complexities of the mind, the goal remains the same—discovering the deeper connections that bind everything together.
As a professor of measurement and statistics, my work focuses on uncovering patterns in data, simulating models, and understanding how we measure the unseen—knowledge, ability, and even thought itself. Beyond the classroom and research, I have spent decades creating worlds for RPGs, drawn to the intricate balance between structure and imagination. My academic background in probability, research design, and psychometrics subtly influences my storytelling, providing my worlds with a foundation of internal logic and consistency.
Dungeons & Dragons was my entry point into structured storytelling, teaching me how to build worlds, craft narratives, and even grasp probability long before I studied statistics. RPGs introduced me to the art of improvisation, character-driven stories, and the magic of storytelling. That experience continues to shape my writing today, helping me create immersive worlds that feel alive, filled with histories, rules, and mysteries waiting to be uncovered.
Martial arts instilled discipline and an appreciation for combat sports, which, along with D&D, influences how I write battle scenes—grounded in strategy, movement, and the raw intensity of the moment. Grasping the mechanics of combat, including stance, balance, and the mental aspects of anticipation and reaction, enables me to design fights that feel authentic, whether they feature swords, magic, or dragon fire.
Philosophy and psychology fuel my curiosity about the mind, memory, and the nature of reality—themes that naturally weave into my writing. The philosophy of science and Eastern thought challenge how we define knowledge and existence, while psychology explores the depths of human decision-making. Concepts like the holographic universe—where reality may be a projection of deeper, unseen dimensions— inspire how I construct worlds, magic systems, and the mysteries at the core of my stories. Whether I’m questioning perception, exploring the layers of consciousness, or blurring the lines between the material and the metaphysical, I’m captivated by the idea that what we perceive is a fragment of a much greater whole.
Many people have inspired my stories, both directly and indirectly. My parents, grandparents, siblings, friends, my wife, and my son have all influenced how I perceive the world and the tales I tell. I especially enjoy sharing stories with my son and watching his imagination bring them to life. Some inspirations run even deeper—one of my main characters reflects my father’s battle with dementia, a theme that runs through my writing, examining memory, identity, and the passage of time.
